Timothy Fahey founded Nexus Consulting in 2011 with the intention of bringing together a network of subject matter experts in the field of new business development, with specific focus in electronic materials and devices. In addition to heading Nexus Consulting, Mr. Fahey co-leads a regional innovation cluster on additive manufacturing in partnership with America Makes and Youngstown Business Incubator. He also serves as the entrepreneur-in-residence for additive manufacturing start-ups in NE Ohio, mentoring innovators in AM materials, 3D printing and sector-focused service bureaus.

Mr. Fahey previously served as a senior consultant for FlexMatters®, a cluster of more than 60 flexible electronics companies in Northeast Ohio, identifying and facilitating product development and commercialization opportunities. His clients spanned a broad swath of emerging materials and devices in printed and flexible electronics, including electronic shelf labels, user interface devices and touch sensors, smart packaging, printed batteries, patch-based medical diagnostics, wearable and stretchable electronic materials, nano-material thermal management products, low power LCD displays, optical switching devices, LED lighting and more. In this role, Mr. Fahey was a regional driver for the creation of NextFlex, the national manufacturing innovation institute for flexible hybrid electronics, and serves as a member and project reviewer.

Mr. Fahey was formerly President and CEO of Five Star Technologies, a venture-funded manufacturer of electronic materials, where he was instrumental in creating the company’s market vision in electronics and in sourcing equity capital from both the venture and angel investor communities. Prior to joining Five Star, he created and led the Static Control business of Noveon Inc. (formerly BF Goodrich), growing a start-up acquisition into a global supplier of materials to the display, hard disk drive and semiconductor markets. Previously, Mr. Fahey led numerous technology groups at BF Goodrich, Raychem Corporation, and Lonza Inc.

Mr. Fahey has strong expertise in new business development, having executed or advised on many strategic alliances and acquisitions. He has served as a board advisor and mentor to numerous start-ups, providing guidance on market entry and technology deployment. Mr. Fahey’s expertise in conductive materials includes pioneering work on printed self-limiting heaters and PTC current-limiting devices at Raychem. He is inventor on 11 U.S. and six international patents.

Mr. Fahey holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Macromolecular Science from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
